Murphy On TIME Magazine Cover as Final TV Ad Hits Airwaves

Caps off week campaigning with Capt. Mark Kelly and VP Joe Biden by highlighting bipartisan leadership

WINTER PARK, FLA. — Today, a new TIME Magazine cover hits newsstands across the country and in central Florida, prominently featuring U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy and her successful bipartisan initiative to effectively repeal the Dickey amendment, the 22-year ban on CDC research into gun violence. TIME’s new “Guns in America” feature, including an online interactive mural, hits newsstands as Murphy launches her fourth and final television ad of the 2018 campaign. The ads touts her bipartisan leadership on gun violence prevention and her commitment to keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of dangerous people.

The 30-second television ad – “Town Hall” – features Murphy talking to voters in a town hall meeting about why she loves this country and how she worked in a bipartisan way to get things done in a gridlocked Washington. In addition to her work on gun safety, the ad touts the $100 million Murphy secured in emergency education funding for Florida schools and universities following last year’s hurricanes. The spot closes by featuring Murphy’s rating as the most effective House freshman by Quorum.us and the Orlando Sentinel’s endorsement of her re-election.

Statement from Stephanie Murphy:

“From the Pentagon to the halls of Congress, public service for me has always been about putting people over politics,” said Murphy. “I’m proud of my my bipartisan record to make our schools better and our communities safer from gun violence. I love this country, and I will work hard every day to ensure a bright future for our children and that the American Dream is alive and well. In these closing days before the election, I’m humbly asking central Florida families to send me back to Congress to fight for them.”
